The film embodies the story of Joseph Curwen , a person who some may think is sorcery due to the strange phenomena surrounding his palace and burned down townspeople. Within 110 years, his great-grandson, Charles Dexter, arrived in order to acquire the palace he was supposed to have inherited. In the end, Charles appears to be dominated by the spirit of his predecessors for revenge.
